Pascal Dusapin is a French composer of contemporary music.
He studied, as a free auditor with Olivier Messiaen at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance of Paris, then with Iannis Xenakis between 1974 to 1978, who appreciated him as a student, finally with Franco Donatoni during composition seminars .
He was a boarder at the Académie de France in Rome from 1981 to 1983 and received many awards from the beginning of his career as a composer. He was elected a member of the Munich Academy of Arts in July 2006 and was appointed Professor of Artistic Creation at the Collège de France for the year 2006-2007.
In March 2008, he was part of the Commission chaired by Hugues Gall and charged by Christine Albanel, Minister of Culture, to fill the position of director of the Académie de France in Rome.
He has also been passionate about photography for decades. Practicing mainly film photography, he exhibited alongside Michael Ackerman at the European House of Photography in 2013 and published at Actes Sud the same year.
